All units
| Bit per second | 100,000,000 bit/s |
|---|---|
| Kilobit per second | 100,000 kbit/s |
| Megabit per second | 100 Mbit/s |
| Gigabit per second | 0.1 Gbit/s |
| Kilobyte per second | 12,500 kB/s |
| Megabyte per second | 12.5 MB/s |
| Gigabyte per second | 0.0125 GB/s |
| Mebibyte per second | 11.920929 MiB/s |
How it works
Internet plans are sold in megabits per second, while downloads usually show megabytes per second. One byte has 8 bits, so 100 Mbit/s is at most 12.5 MB/s. Choose the units and type a value in either field.
Worked examples
- 1 Gbit/s = 125 MB/s
- 50 MB/s = 400 Mbit/s
- 300 Mbit/s = 37.5 MB/s

Frequently asked questions
How many MB/s is 1 Gbit/s?
1 Gbit/s is at most 125 MB/s; in practice usually 110–118 MB/s.
Why is my download 8 times slower than my plan?
Plans are quoted in bits and downloads in bytes. Divide the speed in Mbit/s by 8 to get MB/s.
